You must have seen them. Pictures of big game, with Africa’s tallest mountain in the background. That’s Amboseli, one of the most iconic tourist destinations in the world.
Amboseli is the land of the giants, where large herds of elephant roam beneath the majestic peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s one of Africa’s most eternal images, especially when the distant snow glimmers and the elephants turn to silhouettes as dusk takes hold. For an introduction to safari, there aren’t many places that can rival this inspiring iconicity.
The bewitching scene is best at sunrise and sunset and we know a number of excellent camps that offer a view directly from your bed.
Amboseli has more than 80 species of different mammals ranging from the small and not ordinary spectacled elephant to the enormous big tusked elephant.
If you are a Big 5 fanatic, Amboseli offers you just that, with one of the biggest populations of elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and the African buffalo, as the main attractions.
Amboseli is not particularly huge, which is part of its charms. Lying on 392 square kilometers (151 sq. miles), its size makes the viewing easier and more interesting for visitors.
Being a premium national park, accommodation in Amboseli is excellent, from lodges, to camps, to open concessions and everything in between. Scott Travel has special arrangements with hotels to give you just the best!
